Fix the Web Launches Film for GAAD

Fix the Web will launch a short animation film that:
1. Introduces the topic of digital accessibility, and
2. Provides 15 tips to help people creating websites, apps, software and documents improve the accessibility of their technology.

You can watch a promotional clip from the digital accessibility video on YouTube, and Fix the Web are asking people to sign up to a ‘thunderclap’ campaign to ‘Make Technology Work for All’. This will send a scheduled post to social media, linking to the full film, on May 21st.

The film will be tweeted by English comedian, actor, writer and presenter Stephen Fry – who has a twitter following of over 9 million! Fix the Web are aiming to encourage 10,000 people to learn about digital accessibility through the film and an associated publicity campaign.”

Shaw Trust Accessibility Services Free User Test

Shaw Trust Accessibility Services is supporting GAAD with Shaw Trust’s Accessibility Service offering free website user test for organisations to check how accessible their website is against industry standards (WCAG 2.0). We are offering the user test to three successful applicants that contact us which will be drawn on 22nd May 2015.

IDPP Hosts Global Conversation on Accessibility Awareness

On May 20 2015 from 8:00pm-9:00pm US ET (21 May morning in ASEAN and Asia Pacific), join the Institute on Disability and Public Policy for the ASEAN Region for a Global Conversation on Accessibility Awareness. This year. Open to the public, the global conversation brings together the IDPP network and various groups to share best practices, lessons learned, and effective strategies to raise awareness of accessibility at the global, regional, national and local levels. Participants are invited to share their own experiences, as well as learn about IDPP’s research projects and awareness-raising activities with its university and outreach partners, and government officials from across the ASEAN region, the US, and around the world.

InclusiveLN of the International Society for Technology in Education Tweetchat

The InclusiveLN of the International Society for Technology in Education will be conducting a social media Tweetchat activity on May 21st at 9am EST and 9pm EST using the hashtag #GAADILN.* As part of this activity, they will be sharing images through social media channels, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn that depict ways technology is used to promote accessibility. We could use your help! We need different images as examples for this activity. Images could be photographs or screenshots of tools in action. Send your images to Dr. Susie Gronseth at slgronseth@uh.edu.
