Digital Accessibility Legal Update – Kristina Launey, Seyfarth Shaw LLP (Virtual)

In celebration of this year’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), Deque is proud to have attorney Kristina Launey, a Partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP and accessibility specialist, join us for a digital accessibility legal update. ADA Title III website accessibility lawsuits filed in federal courts in 2020 jumped a surprising 12% over 2019, in spite of a mid-year pandemic dip in filings. Kristina Launey will cover what these trends mean and what organizations can expect in 2021.

BBC Access All Areas – for Global Accessibility Awareness Day

We want to get you talking, thinking and learning about digital access/inclusion and people with different abilities and talents, whether they are audiences or colleagues.

This year we’re running afternoon sessions every day from 17-21 May. Each session will take a slightly different focus and include a mix of BBC and guest speakers and an experts’ panel discussion. All sessions will include live transcription and BSL interpretation.

GAAD week at Webflow (Activity)

To raise awareness about building accessible web experiences and to empower people to build websites that raise the standard of accessibility on the web, we have planned: social media buzz to encourage engagement with #GAAD, a new case study, the new webflow.com/accessibility landing page, a web accessibility checklist of guidelines, a new Webflow University course, internal office hours to discuss accessibility, and announcement of upcoming internal events with accessibility experts.

Digi-ID Accessible Digital Skills Education Citizen Advisory Panel (Private/Internal)

We are a EU consortium co-creating accessible digital skills education for people with intellectual disabilities. We are hosting our project’s first Citizen Advisory Panel kick off activity. Our panel is a group of seven individuals with an intellectual disability, who are part of our team. The purpose of our activity is to seek insights and feedback on topics of digital inclusion and using technology for health, well being and social inclusion.

Translating Design Wireframes into Accessible HTML/CSS (Virtual)

In celebration of this year’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), Deque is offering a free 2-day virtual workshop (6 total hours) for front-end developers and designers seeking practical accessibility skills that you can apply on the job. Attendees should be comfortable with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and have a basic understanding of what accessibility is.
